An international conference on “Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights: Opportunities, Risks, and Visions for a Better Future” is taking place in the capital of Qatar.
The event is organized by Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee with the support of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Development Programme, and the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.
A delegation from Uzbekistan is participating in the forum. The head of the Uzbekistan delegation, Director of the National Center for Human Rights and member of the UN Human Rights Committee, Akmal Saidov, emphasized the importance of national experience in developing artificial intelligence technologies, considering human rights and ethical considerations.
The conference has brought together over 400 participants from more than 70 countries in Qatar, including representatives of governments, national human rights institutions, international organizations, academic bodies, the private sector, and experts in digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
The conference focuses on the search for balanced approaches to regulating artificial intelligence (AI) based on international human rights, ethics, and sustainable development standards.
The conference agenda includes discussions on a wide range of topics, including the protection of personal data in the digital space; the impact of AI on democratic processes, freedom of expression, and access to information; issues of digital security and the observance of human rights in the context of defense and intelligence technologies; and more.
The Uzbekistan delegation will participate in the relevant panel and working sessions, presenting national experience in human rights protection under conditions of digitalization.
