President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping’s book ‘On Respecting and Protecting Human Rights’, first published in the Uzbek language, was presented in Tashkent.
The event was organized by the Chinese Society for the Study of Human Rights, the Administration for the Publication and Distribution of Literature in Foreign Languages of the People’s Republic of China, the Embassy of China in Uzbekistan, and the National Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights.
The presentation of the book was attended by the Member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of the 14th convocation, Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs, Executive Vice President of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, Jiang Jianguo, Director of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, Akmal Saidov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan Yu Jun, representatives of the diplomatic corps, scientific and academic circles, government bodies, public organizations, the media, as well as experts in the field of human rights from China and Uzbekistan.
The speakers noted the importance of the book as an authoritative source revealing China’s conceptual approaches to human rights protection. It was noted that the publication of this book in Uzbek will open up new opportunities for the mutual exchange of scientific knowledge, deepening interstate dialogue, and expanding humanitarian cooperation.

A scientific and practical seminar dedicated to the book ‘On Respecting and Protecting Human Rights’ by the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, was also held.
Representatives of the Chinese side highly appreciated the results of the large-scale reforms being carried out in the country under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of human rights.
The participants also supported the initiatives put forward by Uzbekistan in the international arena. It was emphasized that these efforts are of great importance for the sustainable development and integration of the region into the world community, strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between states.
The participants emphasized that fostering legal dialogue and institutional cooperation contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of national systems for the protection of human rights.
The speakers highly appreciated the importance of scientific and educational initiatives aimed at training qualified specialists in the field of human rights. They also drew attention to the extent of developing joint research projects and academic exchanges between universities and research centers of Uzbekistan and China.
Following the seminar, the parties expressed their readiness to expand bilateral cooperation, including through the organization of joint forums, seminars, and expert meetings aimed at an in-depth study of modern threats in the field of human rights and the development of practical recommendations.

As part of the event, a meeting took place between Mr. Saidov and Mr. Jianguo.
Members of the Chinese delegation were provided with detailed information about the main changes in Uzbekistan’s national legislation and the field of human rights. In particular, the development of the draft National Strategy for Human Rights until 2030 was noted.
In turn, it was noted that as a result of the consistent reforms and policy of openness implemented in China, significant results have been achieved in protecting human rights, which are considered the highest value.
Mr. Jianguo highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s progress in the field of human rights and described the intensive and comprehensive reforms in this area as unprecedented transformations. It was noted that 15 resolutions of the UN General Assembly were adopted based on international initiatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Practical steps in this direction, in turn, clearly demonstrate the growing authority of the country in the international arena. Particular attention was paid to the adoption by the UN General Assembly of the resolution “International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations”, developed jointly by the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
To further deepen cooperation, several concrete plans were agreed upon, in particular the study of approaches to implementing national strategies and action plans in the field of human rights, as well as the organization of regular joint seminars and conferences on pressing issues of the international and national human rights agenda, including contemporary challenges such as the protection of rights in the digital space and the safeguarding of the right to a favorable environment.
