Memorandum on Cooperation Signed Between the National Centre and the Academy of Justice
On 30 April, a ceremony was held to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights and the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event was attended by professors, lecturers, and trainees of the Academy of Justice, as well as staff members and doctoral researchers of the National Centre.
Opening the event, Academician Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, briefly outlined the goals and objectives of the Memorandum.
In particular, it was emphasized that the main purpose of the cooperation is to foster close collaboration in developing educational programmes, teaching and methodological materials, and regulatory documents for the Academy of Justice; conducting fundamental, practical, and innovative research on the protection of human rights in the activities of a new generation of judges and judicial personnel; and preparing scientifically grounded conclusions and recommendations aimed at improving legislation and law enforcement practice.
The participants also discussed the introduction of educational modules such as "Human Rights," "Women's Rights," "Children's Rights," and "International Human Rights Standards Related to the Activities of Internal Affairs Bodies" into the Academy's courses. Special attention was paid to the broad implementation of modern pedagogical and information and communication technologies, distance learning, as well as interactive and problem-based teaching and training methods.
The Memorandum was signed by Akmal Saidov, Director of the National Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, and Sherzod Abduqodirov, Rector of the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the event, the parties also exchanged views on the implementation of the tasks set forth in the National Programme for the Development and Support of Reading Culture for 2020–2025, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as the National Human Rights Strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Particular emphasis was placed on the further development of library activities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the National Centre presented 200 legal publications and manuals published by the Centre to the library fund of the Academy of Justice.
Murad Turgunov, Director of the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, also attended the event and delivered remarks.
