The President reviews modern projects in road construction, energy, and urban development

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived on a working visit to Jizzakh region on December 2.

At the beginning of the visit, the Head of State reviewed the work underway to build modern, convenient road infrastructure.

To connect the regional center with the international M-39 highway, a new 700-meter overpass and a 4-kilometer road were built at a cost of nearly 290 billion UZS. The new road can handle more than 14,000 vehicles per day.

Previously, residents had to use a 25-kilometer detour to enter and exit the city. Thanks to the new facility, the distance has been reduced to 4 kilometers, and the congestion problem on the old section has been resolved. This is of great importance not only to drivers but also to entrepreneurs, the logistics sector, and the service sector.

The overpass, built using modern metal-structure technology, is designed for 100 years of operation. For comparison, traditional reinforced-concrete structures usually serve about 50 years, meaning the service life has been doubled.

Another critical aspect of the project is eliminating the need to halt vehicle traffic during the passage of passenger and freight trains. The construction of the overpass significantly facilitates the movement of vehicles, including emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines.

Information on the implementation of nuclear-energy projects was also presented to the President here.

At present, construction has begun in Jizzakh region on an integrated nuclear power plant that will include two small-capacity and two large-capacity reactors.

At this stage, excavation of the foundations for the reactor buildings is underway. In parallel, preparations for the construction base are underway, including land leveling, concreting, and reinforcement installation. A temporary residential complex has been built for the construction workers.

Plans were presented to localize the production of construction materials for the nuclear power plant and expand personnel training at higher education institutions.

The concept for constructing a mono-city for specialists of the future plant and their families was also shown. The town, located 16 kilometers from the plant under construction, will be designed for 10,000 residents and will include all necessary infrastructure, as well as social and service facilities.

The President reviewed the master plan and renovation projects for the city of Jizzakh’s entrance area.

As part of the renovation program, it is planned to replace outdated housing stock with modern, comfortable, and safe residential buildings. Projects were presented for the construction of an IT center, a handicrafts center, the reconstruction of specific complexes, and the improvement of busy streets.

“The purpose of our visit to Jizzakh is to identify new growth points in the region and ensure their implementation. Today’s Jizzakh is no longer what it was yesterday. The region’s potential has grown many times over, and people’s attitudes toward life and work have changed significantly. We must channel these opportunities into concrete projects that will serve to improve the population’s well-being”, the President noted.

Based on the presentations, responsible officials were given specific instructions.
