On July 7, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev examined the report on the effectiveness of reforms, the progress of work in the districts of Jizzakh region, and the resolution of issues concerning the local population.

On December 31 of last year, a Presidential Resolution outlining priority measures for the accelerated socio-economic development of Jizzakh region was adopted. Specifically, plans for 2025 include attracting $2 billion in investments, increasing exports to $285 million, and securing employment for 168,000 people.

These objectives are being implemented in stages. Over the past six months, 200 projects have been carried out in industry, services, and agriculture. The inflow of investments amounted to $662 million.

However, the Dustlik, Zafarabad, Pakhtakor, and Mirzachul districts are significantly lagging behind the overall regional growth rates. In this regard, the President emphasized the need to prioritize the placement of new projects in these districts to create jobs.

In recent months, large tourist complexes worth $250 million have been put into operation in the region, resulting in a twofold increase in tourist flow. All the necessary conditions are in place for further growth in this area.

Another essential resource is land potential. Although the region has 1.3 million hectares of agricultural land, only 40 percent of it is used for cultivation. Moreover, the average income per hectare of land is lower than in other regions. With the rational use of land, it is possible to increase the production of food and livestock feed significantly.

At the President’s initiative, a Reform Headquarters was also established in Jizzakh region, bringing together representatives of government bodies, sector specialists, and leading entrepreneurs.

At the meeting, a package of new projects prepared by the headquarters was presented. According to the plan, the implementation of 200 projects with a total value of $520 million is envisaged. The realization of these projects will create 12,000 jobs, generate additional budget revenues amounting to 120 billion UZS, and achieve an export potential of $100 million.

The Head of State inquired about the economic feasibility and market demand of the proposed projects. It was emphasized that the hokims and the headquarters must act in a coordinated manner to achieve a qualitative breakthrough in industry, agriculture, tourism, and the services sector. In this case, Jizzakh region is expected to become one of the fastest-growing regions in terms of attracting investments, creating jobs, increasing household incomes, and boosting exports, as noted during the meeting.
