The head of UNICEF conveyed to the Leader of Uzbekistan the sincere greetings of UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
High praise was given to the outcomes of the ongoing reforms in the country, and the national program aimed at ensuring children’s rights and expanding opportunities for them was endorsed.
At the meeting, deep satisfaction was expressed with the level of cooperation achieved between Uzbekistan and UNICEF in recent years.
With the support of the Organization, Uzbekistan has adopted legislation on protecting children from violence, as well as strategic documents in social protection and the fight against pediatric oncology. Assistance was also provided in countering the coronavirus pandemic and developing the vaccination system.
The importance of implementing joint measures was emphasized in areas such as improving legislation, introducing new mechanisms for child care and support, developing the social work system and training specialists, enhancing the accessibility and quality of social services, developing national standards, expanding social insurance, promoting inclusive education, and advancing other priority directions.
An agreement was reached on adopting a new Country Program until 2030 and jointly holding a series of international events focused on protecting children’s rights and advancing their interests.
