The President of Uzbekistan notes with particular satisfaction the dynamic development of inter-parliamentary relations with China

On July 8, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the National People’s Congress of China led by Chairman of the Standing Committee Zhao Leji.

The head of the Chinese parliament conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to the Leader of Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, the highest level of friendship and all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China achieved in recent years was noted with deep satisfaction.

The agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to China in January this year are being consistently implemented.

Confidence was expressed that the results of the fruitful high-level talks held within the framework of the SCO Summit in Astana will give new impetus to enhancing multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

China’s strong support for the socio-economic reform program in Uzbekistan was confirmed, especially in poverty reduction, and plans to adopt strategic cooperation programs in infrastructure development, industrial cooperation, agriculture and green energy.

The importance of starting practical work on constructing China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway as soon as possible was emphasized.

Intensive interregional contacts were highly rated. The second Forum of Regions will be held next year.

The issues of opening branches of Chinese universities, enhancing collaboration in professional education, and supporting the activities of the Confucius Institute in Uzbekistan were considered. The second Educational Forum is scheduled for next year.

Views were exchanged on cultural and tourism exchanges.

Particular emphasis was placed on the need to expand inter-parliamentary cooperation, intensify exchanges between parliamentarians, and study the experience of legislative activities to support ongoing reforms.

It was noted that an action plan is envisaged for implementing measures aimed at deepening cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
