Representative of Uzbekistan is participating in the meeting of the OIC's Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission

The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) holds its 27th regular session from 19 to 21 July 2026, via video conference, with the participation of members of the Commission, representatives of the OIC General Secretariat, and a number of ministers, officials and experts, to discuss the most prominent human rights issues of priority in the OIC member states.

First Deputy Director of the National Centre for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a member of the OSCE Independent Permanent Commission on Human Rights prof. Mirzatillo Tillaboyev is participating online.

The session is held behind closed doors, limited to members of the body, allowing for in-depth discussions and an exchange of views on the topics on the agenda. The session opens with remarks from Dr. Saido Dogon Guida, Chair of the body, and Dr. Hadi bin Ali Al-Yami, Executive Director of the body. Also participating in the opening session are Mr. Mashdal Mohammed Omar Ahmed, Minister of Human Rights of the Republic of Yemen, and Ms. Hind Aboud Qabawat, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor of the Syrian Arab Republic.

The session will discuss a number of priority issues, foremost among them developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, including women’s and children’s rights, the right to development, and human rights education.
