As part of the Global Climate Summit in Baku, the First Lady of Uzbekistan, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the “Zamin” International Public Foundation Ziroat Mirziyoyeva, and eco-activists got acquainted with the country’s national pavilion at COP29.
The concept of Uzbekistan’s pavilion “Sustainability Inside” is based on the traditional Uzbek Hovli – a courtyard that symbolizes the heart of the Uzbek home and the image of family comfort. The pavilion is built using sustainable, traditional materials and ancient methods, time-tested, and adapted to the country’s climate.
It should be noted that during the summit, more than 30 events will be held at this site that will cover the main climate problems of Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region, including land degradation and desertification, conservation of biodiversity, climate resilience of cities, and restoration of the Aral Sea region.
The First Lady of Uzbekistan, together with the First Ladies of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, Türkiye Emine Erdoğan and Kyrgyzstan Aigul Japarova, also visited the Solidarity Center pavilion. It was opened as part of the Zero Waste initiative of the spouse of the President of Türkiye and with the assistance of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, headed by the spouse of the President of Azerbaijan.
The distinguished guests were informed about these organizations’ projects in waste management, recycling, environmental programs, innovative solutions, education, healthcare, culture, and environmental protection.
The launch ceremony of the tree planting campaign in Shamakhi, Azerbaijan, was also held here. The first ladies of the four countries remotely launched the greening activities.
